I saw the first sitronsommerfugl on 14 March, 2008, in Baneheia. I’ve had very little time for butterfly spotting this summer, due to several of my weekends being taken up by preparing to move.

I was unemployed all of the summer of 2006, so I had plenty of time to look for butterflies.  My favorite spots in Telemark were Gjerpensdalen and Jarseng in Skien and Tangen fort in Langesund.  I
 
Minnesota, 2005
 
I first started trying to identify and photograph butterflies while living in northeastern Minnesota.  The species listed below were all seen in the Tofte and Gunflint districts of the Superior
 
These lists are roughly in the order that I saw each species each year.  Since I don’t capture the butterflies, it is entirely possible that I have mis-identified some of the species, especially blues and fritillaries.
